Linville Falls or mine for gems at one of the areas many gem mines.
Autumn transforms the area into a wonderland of reds, golds, purples
and other shades too numerous to mention. Take a romantic drive along
the Blue Ridge Parkway and lose yourself in a riot of color, or take the
family hiking along any number of trails, rated from easy to difficult.
Think that Winter means you can’t get away? Not in the High Country.
With four wonderful ski slopes that overlook the centuries old resort towns
of Blowing Rock, Boone and Banner Elk, the High Country provides you
with quality skiing. Ice Skating, Winter Biking and Hiking are also available
for those hardy souls who aren’t afraid a little cold weather. Breathtaking
long range views from various overlooks also offer a way to get out and
enjoy the day as you travel along the Blue Ridge Parkway, but don’t stop

Spring brings with it the return of some beautiful flora and fauna.
Songbirds return to herald each day. Rivers provide swift currents for
whitewater rafting and other river expeditions. Fishermen delight as an
abundance of trout swim the local waters. Come enjoy our annual
musical celebration of bluegrass and folk music.
